On December 6th,2008 we had a total of close to two hundred visitors. Many of them came to buy sweets, others came to adopt, and most of them came to show there support. But our greatest success on this day wasn't the bake sale or the adoptions but just getting each and everyone of them to change their opinion of the shelter. Many people came in with one eye closed not knowing what to expect. They drove in remembering the negative memories of a run down, forgotten little smelly, mouse infested "DOG POUND." They all left with smiles and with a new positive outlook of what a new shelter should look like. They spoke of how a successful shelter is not made of brand new clean kennels but of people. Positive people who are not surprisingly way overworked but truly care about what they are doing and why they are doing it. YES! We are now the largest municipal shelter in the state but whether we are the largest or the smallest it takes a lot of compassion, patience, and love to do this kind of work. I would like to thank my entire staff for putting in 100% to make this day a total success and I would like to especially thank everyone that took time out of their busy schedules to drop off some baked goods and also to those that came down to support and buy some yummies. I would like to let everyone know that anything that did not sell was donated to the Bridgeport Rescue mission and most importantly Dog "1514" which has been at our shelter since May was finally adopted!!!!!! THIS IS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO!!!!!                       THANK YOU!!!!

Please drop off bags of cans and bottles at our shelter. (Please rinse them out before dropping them off.)

We are pleased to announce The Bridgeport Animal Control 1st Annual Toy Drive for Bridgeport Hospital's P.T. Barnum Pediatric Center.

Please help us cheer up children in the hospital during the holidays by donating a new, unwrapped toy (colorful hair clips, head bands, hairbrushes, small Lego kits, crayons, markers, coloring books, notepads, stickers, craft kits, infant rattles, flavored chapsticks, story books with sound, etc) Toys will be donated Monday the 22^nd. For a more complete list of goodies to buy please email me. The Hospital can only accept certain items.
